For bulk buyers and brand owners, verification starts well before a single kilogram of finished powder reaches your warehouse.
Sitopaladi Churna is described in the Sharangdhar Samhita and the Bhaishajya Ratnavali, making it a well-documented Shastrayoga formulation with a clear reference standard. The classical formula calls for five core ingredients: Sitopala (mishri or rock candy), Vanshlochan (bamboo manna), Pippali (long pepper), Ela (green cardamom), and Twak (cinnamon). The proportions follow a strict descending ratio from Sitopala down to Twak, with Sitopala forming the dominant share by weight.
These ratios are not arbitrary. The relatively high proportion of Sitopala balances the pungency of Pippali and the aromatic intensity of Ela and Twak, producing a characteristic organoleptic profile. Any batch presenting an excessively sharp or pungent aroma may indicate an out-of-ratio or adulterated Pippali component. A powder with coarse particles or visible non-uniformity suggests inadequate milling or an incompatible additive. A batch with an unusually bright white colour that dissolves rapidly like refined sugar warrants further scrutiny on the Sitopala identity. These are screening indicators only and do not replace laboratory testing, but they can justify quarantining a lot pending confirmation.
Buyers distributing across state lines should formalise organoleptic evaluation as a documented receiving step, with a trained quality representative signing off and retaining a sealed reference sample from every batch received.

Loss on drying confirms that moisture levels are within the pharmacopoeial limit, protecting shelf life and microbial stability.
